Programme
Třístoličník is the most beautiful ridge in Šumava with views of the Alps. The start of the route is in Nové údolí, which you can reach by train from Nové Pec. From Nové Údolí, 600 meters of altitude await you before you reach the ridge path. You will be rewarded with the first wonderful views and the possibility of refreshments at the Dreisessel hut.
Near the cottage there are beautiful rock formations with far-reaching views, which are definitely worth the short walk. The ridge path leads to the other side, now you have an easy path along the ridge without much elevation gain. The whole time you will enjoy the wonderful views.
On this ridge, in addition to amazing views, you will also find rock formations, you will reach Trojmeza, where the borders of the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria meet, and at the end of the ridge path you will descend to the obelisk of Adalbert Stifter with a beautiful view of Lake Plešné.
Unfortunately, the most beautiful part ends here and if you decide to continue to Nová Peca, you will have a slightly more difficult descent to Plešné jezer and then a tiring road on asphalt to Nová Peca. However, at the obelisk you have one more option, to turn around and go the same way back to Nové Údolí, although the journey is a bit longer, but it is all the more interesting and less demanding.
Requirements
The route is only suitable for active individuals, the whole journey takes about 8 hours, a total of 23 kilometers and a climb of over 600 meters await you. An alternative is an easy route suitable for prams from the German side, where an asphalt road leads from the parking lot to the Dreisessel hut.
The route is heavily traveled, but if you take the first train, you'll be pretty much on your own for most of the journey. Most tourists move to the triple border, where they can easily get to from the already mentioned parking lot.
Weather
We recommend the trip only in good weather, the descent from the obelisk or the stone sea in wet or snow conditions can be dangerous
